4: Having Spare Change

Have you ever found yourself in a shop and you realise as you look into your handbag or wallet that you are short by just a few pence (cents)? I definitely should carry my piggy bank around with me as I found myself in this situation a lot!

So today, I was purchasing a pair of baby socks (worth only £1.49) and as I opened my purse I started to ask myself, “Do I have enough?”,”Do they accept bank cards?”, “Where’s the nearest cash point?” and “Should I leave them and come back another time?”. As I was counting there it was that blink of bliss followed by huge relief, I have enough!  It was one of those moments where you whisper very loudly, “Yay” and then take a quick look around hoping nobody else heard you!

3: Pressing your Face against Glass

At some point you may have seen or actually experienced a sudden urge to press your face against glass whilst simultaneously morphing your face into a silly pose.  I know I didn’t look cute or funny like this orangutan when I pressed my face against the glass door my friend was opening, in fact it was slightly disgusting! But, in this brief second there was a blink of bliss of feeling like a 5-year-old again just having fun, that is until I realised I am thirty and perhaps this is something I shouldn’t go round doing (sorry for the smudges!)

2: Chocolate Cake, Whipped Cream and Ice Cream

This is a very popular blink of bliss (especially among us girls) – today I enjoyed a free desert consisting of chocolate cake, hazelnut, panna cotta and vanilla ice cream on a plate surrounded by whipped cream. This was even more blissful by eating and sharing this delicious feast with a lovely friend outside under an outdoor heater.

Yes, I’ve heard and deliberately choose to ignore what they say about it being, “Moments on the lips but lifetime on the hips” as some moments especially chocolate ones are worth it!

1: Baby blowing raspberries

If adults walked around blowing raspberries, we would get many odd looks and as the saying goes be, “Thrown into a white van with men in white coats!”

My blink of bliss today was seeing my son unreservedly blow raspberries all day, whether we were out and about (where people walked by and laughed with joy) or when he was eating his meal and spraying his vegetable purée all over me.

Perhaps I will try to do the same or maybe not but watching my son do it over and over made me smile.
